During the 2012 Canada West regular season games between Calgary and its various opponents, such as the Golden Bears, Saskatchewan, UBC and Manitoba, Cowtown was in a league of its own. In the two games between the Bears and Calgary Dinos, the point differential was about 50. FIFTY! Needless to say, the Dinos posted a 7-1 record in conference play and were among the favourites to win the Vanier Cup. However, the Mitchell Bowl (one of two semi-finals en route to the Vanier Cup) pitted Calgary against McMaster, last year’s Vanier Cup champ and the winner of 21 straight games. What transpired, however, was more reminiscent of USC vs. Utah than it was a battle of Oregon and Stanford. McMaster emerged the 45-6 winners, and now face Laval in a rematch of the 2011 Vanier Cup.
