When you meet Ana Green, you are immediately struck by how warm and friendly she is. You feel like you’re catching up with an old friend instead of getting acquainted with someone new. It doesn’t take long at all to get an appreciation for how much she’s accomplished in her 4 years at the U of A.
Since 2010, Ana has been volunteering at the University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre. In addition to her counselling work, Ana was also a member of the Awareness Committee. In her second year at the SAC, she became co-chair of the Awareness Committee and she continues to hold this position. In her time at the Centre, Ana has been involved with numerous poster campaigns, bake sales and Sexual Assault Awareness Week initiatives, demonstrating her commitment and dedication to the SAC and ending sexual violence. This year, Ana also became the newly elected Director of Advocacy for the John Humphrey Center U of A Chapter, as well as a volunteer with the Campus Food Bank. Her passion for bringing about change in her community is infectious, motivating those around her to do the same.
In addition to her many commitment on campus and in the community, Ana also keeps herself busy with her genetics specialization degree. She truly has a love of science and hopes to continue pursuing this interest in the field of academia. When she’s not volunteering, studying, or spending time with friends and family, you can find her playing handbells with a choir that works with individuals of different capabilities. Talk about a woman of many talents!
