Anne Brown: Lister love

Anne Brown strives to build a community that is not only inclusive, but also one that encourages community members to participate, to be involved, and to give back. Anne was voted in by her peers last year to represent the residents of Lister as the Lister Hall Students’ Association’s Vice President of Public Relations. She has worked tirelessly this year to ensure that people attending the University of Alberta feel safe in the residence.

Throughout 2012, Anne ran the PR committee, which is the largest committee in Lister. She is also the driving force behind the Lister’s Own Volunteer Effort (L.O.V.E) which has run countless programs that encourage volunteer work and also raise money for various charities. The City of Edmonton also benefits from her efforts. She raised $12 000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation because of Love Auction. She helped organized a penny drive that raised money for The Little Warriors Program for Children at Risk, a jail and bail event that raised over $1000 for the Canadian Cancer Society last year, and she is currently organizing a dodgeball tournament called Dodgefest that raises money for KidSport.

With an infectious enthusiasm, Anne excels not only in Lister Hall, but on parts of campus that extend all the way to the Fine Arts Building and the many dodgeball gymnasiums in between. With this in mind, she’s a fantastic addition to the Top 100.
