Carleigh Miller: the Pandas’ energy ball

In her five years at the University of Alberta, Carleigh has become the definition of a star student-athlete. As the captain of the Pandas varsity soccer team, Carleigh is among the leading scorers in program history, and turned in a superb 2012 season, once again ranking among the highest scorers in the Canada West Conference, thus earning yet another all-star nod in the process. Unlike the 2011 season, where the team contended for the CIS title, the 2012 Pandas hit a rough patch that forced a quarterfinals playoff game against national powerhouse UBC. Regardless, Carleigh capped off a remarkable Pandas career wearing the green and gold.

Off the pitch, Carleigh is an avid volunteer, and was recognized by the U of A Athletics Department in April 2012 as its student-athlete volunteer of the year during the annual Bears and Pandas Colours Night. On top of this, Carleigh succeeded in forging ties between various Bears and Pandas sports, leading the UAB Antifreeze team to a top-four placing in 2012.

Carleigh’s energy inspires others, and she has made a noticeable impact in her time as a varsity athlete and U of A student. Her 2012 season concluded her Pandas career in fine fashion, making her a quality addition to the Top 100.
