We’ve hit July, and what a scorcher of a beginning to the month it was. With temperatures hovering around 30 degrees Celcius, the day felt more like Houston than anything one experiences in Western Canada. The Aga Khan breakfast opened early on Monday morning at the Legislature grounds, with the Running Room’s Canada Day 15 kilometre race taking place at the same time.
Mayor Stephen Mandel was one of the first to get in on the Twitterverse action.
Happy Canada Day! So much going on all across Edmonton today – enjoy! Whatever you do today, I wish you a fun and safe Canada Day.

As the day progressed, Edmontonians spent time on Twitter lamenting the heat.
It was a hot Canada Day in Edmonton!

And then the fireworks happened.
