Everything You Need to Know About Edmonton: July 18, 2013

The Wanderer Online provides Edmontonians with a daily recap of the last day in news. Our long-form – and sometimes irreverent and witty –  recaps will keep you up-to-date with the latest happenings across the city. Enjoy and stay tuned.

Yesterday marked the beginning of a much anticipated event for the Festival City, as Taste of Edmonton officially began. Entering its 29th year of filling downtown with some of the best culinary offerings the city has, Taste of Edmonton has several new features, including a shifted focus towards independent eateries. With much more than just great eats, Taste of Edmonton can be found in Sir Winston Churchill Square until the 27th.

K-Days officially begins today, with set up being completed yesterday. With musical headliners and the midway set to begin tonight, catching the excitement early is definitely worth a thought.

City politics are still getting some excitement with some new names entering the councillor races. On Wednesday came Hafis Devji’s announcement that he will be running as the fifth candidate for Ward 10. This was followed by yesterday’s announcement that Ted Grand will be joining the race in Ward 2, making him the fourth candidate to do so. The Wanderer has a close eye on the municipal elections, and will keep you posted on the developments.

Edmonton has officially become the venue of Canada’s first 7-D theatre. Located in West Edmonton Mall’s Galaxy land, the theatre uses everything from strobe lights to wind machines to create an experience that engages every sense. The interactive component of the theatre has so far been a hit, and Edmontonians now have a chance to be the first to experience this technology up close and personally.
