When offered the job as Chief Executive Officer of YWCA Edmonton in 2010, Jackie Foord jumped at the chance. “It was an organization with a rich history that was on the threshold of taking back its role as the voice of women in Edmonton. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity or the challenge”, she says. Over the past three years, Jackie has led the Board of Directors and staff as they have expanded programming and tackled tough advocacy issues. In doing so, she has challenged them to think beyond the budget cycle and the organization is currently working on the development of a 10 year vision document.
Jackie is an enthusiastic leader and an accomplished fundraiser with over twenty years’ experience in executive non-profit management. A lifelong learner, she has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Regina, an Advanced Graduate Diploma in Management and an MBA from Athabasca University. Originally from Saskatchewan, Jackie has called Edmonton home for 20 years. Community is important, and she is involved in a variety of organizations and causes as a volunteer and board member. “Edmonton has been good to me, professionally and personally. I’m so fortunate to be in this city and with YWCA at a moment in time when both are poised to do big things.”
