Krista is an outstanding student-athlete; she just recently played her last game in the CIS, finishing her impressive five-year athletic career. The Pandas Volleyball team finished this season with a silver medal at Nationals, a fantastic finish to the year following a 15-7 season record. Krista finished this season leading her team in kills with 2.96/set and in points with 3.69/set. She also sits 3rd in the Canada West record books with 0.39 aces/set. She represented her country in 2010 on Team Canada B and in 2011 on the Team Canada FISU Games Team, which competed in Shenzhen, China. If that isn’t a stellar year as an athlete, then we don’t know what is.
In her spare time Krista is the Vice President Internal for the University Athletics Board. Along with organizing events such as Yogapalooza for KidSport and the Old Strathcona Rack Team Player Awards, she has volunteered her time for Stollery Children’s Hospital visits, United Way Super Sub Day, Athlete Orientation, and the Green and Gold Athletic Banquet. Always maintaining an enthusiastic and positive disposition, Krista betters those around her. She is a prototypical team player, a person that brings her teammates to a new level and shows them what it is that they can achieve by working together. Though she has succeeded individually on the volleyball court, one must look no further than the Pandas’ CIS success to see that Krista is a major influence on the court.
While she is accomplished on the court and in her community, Krista sits with an overall honours in Biological Sciences and has been a University of Alberta Academic All-Canadian from 2008-2012. One of the U of A’s premier student-athletes, Krista graduates knowing that she has completed a phenomenal U of A undergraduate career, where she raised the performance of those around her.
