MLB 2012: Predicting the Second Half | The Wanderer Sports

THE FIRST HALF OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL has been full of surprise, with the rapid rise of Bryce Harper and the success of his Washington Nationals, the consistency of the Pittsburgh Pirates (despite anemic hitting), implosion of the Boston Red Sox (compounded by the intense Boston Globe media presence) and dominance of New York Mets stalwart R.A. Dickey. The All-Star Game will provide a brief interlude to the 162-game season, after which the league’s thirty clubs will resume play, with about a dozen of them battling for the few post-season berths. It is clear that the second half of the 2012 season will provide a rich plot for sports fans, with teams as diverse as the Yankees, Rangers, Indians, Nationals and Pirates all playing major roles in its unfolding.

Three of our writers – Emerson Csorba, Andrew Booth and Bennett Csorba – are providing you with their picks of the top ten best storylines for the season’s second half. On Monday July 9, Emerson Csorba releases his top 10, followed by Booth on Wednesday and the younger Csorba on Friday.
