Michele Hecken: CEO, Alpha Translations Canada Inc.

Michèle Hecken is the founder and CEO of Alpha Translations Canada Inc., a global localization agency that has been providing expert translation, language and cultural consulting services to international companies worldwide for more than 19 years. She was born in Toronto, Canada to a Canadian mother and German father. She went to school and university in Germany and holds a Master’s degree in translation and interpretation. Growing up in two cultures with two languages laid the foundation for her interest in global business.

Michèle achieved over 200% growth in her first four consecutive years in business and grew Alpha Translations from a home-based business into a global enterprise with multi-million dollar revenues, while raising 2 daughters as a single mom. Started in 1994, Alpha Translations was global right from its inception, and utilized the eight-hour time difference between Alberta and Germany to offer overseas-overnight business, legal, and financial translation services to Fortune 500 companies and some of the world’s largest law firms.

In 2011, in response to clients’ needs, Alpha Global Experts Inc. was born, an international consulting agency focused on Global Business Expansion and Culture for Business to help companies succeed in international markets. In the two decades since Michèle founded Alpha Translations and co-founded Alpha Global Experts, she continues to maintain a strong global focus while also cultivating strong ties in the Edmonton business community. She is a member of the Edmonton chapter of Entrepreneurs’ Organization, AWE (Alberta Women Entrepreneurs), Start-up Edmonton, and Translators without Borders.
