Myka Osinchuk began her career as a Speech Language Pathologist specializing in patients recovering from head and neck cancers. Before joining the Alberta Cancer Foundation, she served as Executive Director of the Institute for Reconstructive Sciences in Medicine (IRSM).
Myka is a leader in life sciences and bio-tech development in Alberta, serving previously as Director and Acting Vice President of Life Sciences for the Alberta Research Council and as the founding President of BioAlberta, a not-for-profit industry association based in Edmonton.
Since joining the Alberta Cancer Foundation as Chief Executive Officer in 2011, Myka has been instrumental in introducing a new Strategic Research Investment Framework, which calls for more focused collaborations and outcomes that will improve the lives of Albertans facing cancer.
She and her board of trustees also worked tirelessly to partner with the provincial government to announce a new, and much-needed, comprehensive cancer centre in Calgary to match the comprehensive cancer care received by those in Northern Alberta at the Cross Cancer Institute.
Myka serves her community through involvement in various committees and boards including the Edmonton Space and Science Foundation and the Provincial Advisory Council on Cancer.
Myka holds both BSc and MBA degrees from the University of Alberta.
