NFL Week 3 Thursday Night Pick: Manning Magic Away from Meadowlands | By Andrew Booth

NFL Week  3 — Thursday night pick

After two blown laptops and one overheated desktop disintegrated our previous pick columns, The Wanderer Sports brings its NFL picks column into the spotlight.  So call your mom, ask for some money for a “gym membership” and give in to vice.  All lines are from, home team in caps.

Giants (+2.5) over PANTHERS

The New York Football Giants are headed to Cam’s country to take on last season’s offensive rookie of the year and his Carolina Panthers. While the Panthers have improved from last season, giving the defending Super Bowl champions points is – even if it’s less than a field goal – too good a deal to not accept.  And, as we’ve seen over the past few seasons, Eli Manning is better away from the Meadowlands and its swirling winds.

Manning will be without Hakeem Nicks and Dominik Hixon, putting more pressure on Victor Cruz. But Eli has proven again and again that once the 4th quarter rolls around he elevates his game like no other quarterback.  Give me the Giants to win outright: the points are just gravy.  As for the point total, which is set at 49, I love the over.  The Giants and Panthers each put up at least 35 points on their own last week, and despite the injuries to the Giants’ receivers, look for both quarterbacks to have a big day.
