Pat Long started to work in her father’s company “Barrigan Woodwares Limited” when she was a very young woman. You could say she grew up with sawdust in her hair. She started in payroll, job costing, shop/detail drawing, as an estimator, job superintendent and eventually project manager. After high school, she went to Chicago to become an interior designer. She married and then took off some time to have two wonderful daughters. Pat then went back to work with several companies before starting her own. She started her own company July of 1997 and has continued working full-time. She designs, sells and services High Density Mobile Filing Systems. Her company has completed many prestigious projects and continues to be the leader in the industry. Pat was the first woman to be elected to the Board of Directors of The Edmonton Construction Association and in November of 2011 she was presented with the “Outstanding Woman in Construction Award.”
In 2002, Pat began to swim with The Edmonton Masters Swim Club and still swims with them today. She has represented them in Three World Masters Events. She has won Two gold medals, one silver and two bronze. Finally, Pat volunteers for the fundraising committee of the Excel Society and speaks on a regular basis to young people battling addictions. She loves to golf and ski when she has an opportunity. Indeed, Pat is proud to be one of The Wanderer’s Top 100 Edmonton Women in Business.
