Petros Kusmu lives with an energy and charisma that bring smiles to the faces of those around him. In his years on campus, this infectious energy has made numerous student organizations better, whether it’s the Musicians Club, Students’ Council or his gig in 2012 as Vice-President External of the Students’ Union, where he represents over 30,000 undergraduates. In each of these roles, Petros thinks big, but he also capitalizes on his idea, an ability that has done wonders for University of Alberta students.
In February and March 2012, Petros campaigned to become the SU VP External and won by a wide margin, in what was one of the most exciting and innovative campaigns in recent memory. During his term thus far, he has advocated for students at both a provincial and national level, with the Council of Alberta University Students and the Canadian Alliance of Students Association. At each of these levels, Petros is a star, a quick-thinker that understands how to lobby and communicate students’ interests to MLAs and MPs.
When Petros finishes his time in the Students’ Union, it will only be time before he makes his mark somewhere else in the realm of politics, whether local or abroad. One of the most electric students on campus, Petros is a true game-changer.
