At 4 pm today, a University of Alberta first-year student, Jimmy Kang, has helped launch a website called The Pro Story, which you can read about here. The website design is very sleek, with a minimalistic layout that evokes images of Thought Catalog. But more importantly, the team of four, comprised of students from Alberta and British Columbia, have written some very thoughtful and crisp pieces on prominent leaders in universities, their student associations and the wider world. The first issue profiles Nikita Kiran-Singh, a writer for The Wanderer and first-year extraordinaire. On top of this, the VP Student Life of the Fraser Valley SU, Jody Gordon, and Edmonton Eskimos coach Kavis Reed are profiled.
With websites and magazines such as GOOD.is popping up across the continent, it is great to see something like The Pro Story arrive in Western Canada. The potential here is outstanding, and with commitment from the editors, this could turn into something special.
