In a recent promotion, Dropbox implied to students that the University of Alberta endorses their product. Um, NOPE. Not at all, according to U of A PR people. In fact, the university was pissed enough that it just had to make this error known to students and professors. The U of A is currently investigating the issue, which perhaps means that it’s working with its lawyers to potentially sue Dropbox for an error that it committed with full understanding of the consequences.
Based on U of A students’ Facebook feeds from the week of October 15-19, the Dropbox stunt likely worked.
